Deiniolen Trust Fund

Terms & conditions.

The short, plain-English terms under which we publish the website at deiniolentrust.org and accept donations and grant applications. Last updated: 22 May 2026.

In short.

  • This website is published by DEINIOLEN TRUST FUND, charity 219993, of 9 Deiniol Road, Deiniolen.
  • The information on the site is provided in good faith but is not legal, financial or professional advice.
  • We may change content without notice; we will not change the substance of our policies without explaining the change.
  • Donations are gifts; we cannot refund a donation unless it was made in error.
  • Welsh and English law applies to any dispute, with the courts of Caernarfon as the agreed venue.

1. The site and who runs it.

The website at deiniolentrust.org is published by DEINIOLEN TRUST FUND, a charity registered in England and Wales (charity 219993), with registered office at 9 Deiniol Road, Deiniolen, Caernarfon, LL55 3LL. By using the website you agree to be bound by these terms and by our privacy policy and cookie policy.

2. Use of the site.

You may read, print and download material from the site for non-commercial personal use, for use within your community organisation, or to refer to the trust in correspondence and applications. You may not republish the trust’s content commercially, reproduce our logo as your own, or imply that we endorse anything we do not (we endorse very little). You may quote short excerpts in news or academic work; please credit us as DEINIOLEN TRUST FUND, charity 219993.

3. Content and accuracy.

We try to keep the site accurate and up to date, but the substantive numbers and stories on the site relate to the year ending 31 December 2025 unless stated otherwise. We will not be liable for any decision you take based on information on the site that turns out to have been out of date; if you are about to make an important decision based on something the site says, please write to us first and we will confirm.

4. Donations.

Donations are gifts to the trust. Once received, a donation cannot be refunded except where (a) the donation was made in error (e.g. wrong amount, duplicate transaction) and you tell us within fourteen days; (b) the donation was made under duress or without authority (e.g. unauthorised use of a card). If you have made a Gift Aid declaration, you must tell us within thirty days if you stop being a UK taxpayer; otherwise you may owe the difference to HMRC.

The donation form on this website is a demonstration only and does not process card payments. Real donations must be made by cheque (payable to DEINIOLEN TRUST FUND, 9 Deiniol Road, Deiniolen, LL55 3LL), by standing order (please write to us for the form), or by bank transfer (please write for our sort code and account number, which we do not publish for fraud-prevention reasons).

5. Grant applications.

Applying for a grant does not create any entitlement to a grant. Grants are made at the discretion of the trustees, subject to the objects of the Scheme of 22 May 1980 and to the availability of funds. We will reply to every application in writing, including those we decline.

If we make you a grant, the small implicit conditions are: (a) the grant is used substantially for the purpose described in the application; (b) the grant is used within twelve months of receipt, or returned to the trust; (c) you keep us informed of any material change of circumstances that affects the grant.

6. Volunteers.

Volunteer roles are not employment. The trust does not pay volunteers, does not reimburse routine personal expenses, and does not provide insurance against personal accident; we recommend volunteers maintain their own household insurance. We will however indemnify volunteers for any third-party liability arising from acts they undertake at our request, in line with our standard volunteer agreement (available on request).

7. External links.

The site links to a small number of external resources — the Charity Commission register, the ICO, OpenStreetMap, and a handful of village organisations. We are not responsible for the content of external sites. If a link is broken, please tell us.

8. Intellectual property.

The text on the site is © DEINIOLEN TRUST FUND, with the exception of named quotations from third parties (testimonials), which are © their authors and used with permission. The site’s logo and visual identity are © DEINIOLEN TRUST FUND. Photographs are © the trust or used by permission. You may not reuse the logo or visual identity for any purpose without written permission.

9. Limitation of liability.

Nothing in these terms excludes our liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Subject to that, our total liability to you arising from your use of the site is limited to £100.

10. Governing law & jurisdiction.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of Caernarfon have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. Welsh-language correspondence concerning a dispute will be treated as equal in standing to English-language correspondence.

11. Changes to these terms.

We may update these terms from time to time; the Last updated date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent change. We will not make substantive changes without explanation.

12. Contact.

Questions about these terms? Write to [email protected] or to the registered office address above.

A short word on the language of the terms.

These terms are written in plain English because the trust’s working language with non-Welsh-speaking villagers and visitors is English; a Welsh-language version, accurate in substance, is available on request. In the event of a dispute over the meaning of any term, the Welsh-language version will be treated as equal in standing to the English. We have not had a dispute under these terms in forty-six years; we do not anticipate one.

What you can expect from us, briefly.

Read alongside the formal terms above, three short undertakings the trust makes informally to anyone who interacts with the website or the post:

  • A reply, always. We reply to every letter, including the ones we cannot help with. We aim for seven working days.
  • A reason, always. A refusal will be accompanied by a short reason and, where we can, a name of another organisation that might be a better fit.
  • A name, always. Every letter from the trust is signed by a named trustee, by hand. We do not send anonymous correspondence.
We have not had a dispute under these terms in forty-six years. The terms are short on purpose; the trust is short on purpose. From the May 2024 reserve meeting minutes
